Nova Ambara

Nova Building ProductsIWP is proud to bring the beauty and sophistication of Nova’s thermally modified Ambara™ to ten Western states.  Sustainably sourced from West Africa, this dense, tropical hardwood is also referred to as Ayous.  After harvesting, the Ayous undergoes an innovative thermal modification process that removes natural sugars and tannins from the wood.  The result is a lighter weight material with increased stability, and a change in color from light green to an attractive caramel. Modified Ambara rivals the distinct and refined knot-free look of a Clear grade, Flat or Vertical grain Western Red Cedar.  Ambara can be easily milled into multiple profiles and the modified wood holds stain well, demonstrating the versatility of the material.  Recommended for siding, cladding, trim, soffit, pergolas, and other non-structural applications, Ambara can also be used for interior projects.

Currently stocked at IWP in a 1×6 T&G pattern with a 1/8″ fineline smooth face and a V-groove smooth back.  Contact a Specialty Woods Representative at IWP for more information on the many possibilities of Ambara.
